Kindergarten it is #3|Colours (super easy)

I teach 7 classes this year, so of course they are not the same. Ages and levels are different. Therefore, something that works great in one class doesn’t necessarily work for another class.

For a class that learners are still young and not familiar with colours even in their mother tongue, I created a super easy lesson for only 4 colours; blue, red, green and yellow.

10′ 1st activity: I show them the flashcards with the colours and play the game What Colour Am I? with the help of the headbands from a popular board game. Indeed, they enjoyed having me guess what colour I am once they place it on my head. Also, we put headbands on children and their classmates named the colour on the headband.

10′ 2nd activity: The class is divided into two groups. I have cut random shapes of different coloured cardboards, and I created a nest, so when I call a colour, pupils of each team have to find the colour asked and put it in the nest.

5′ 3rd activity: We do an experiment with smarties and water on a plate. Learners take an interest in the magic of science, consolidate the first colours taught, get familiar with the other colours, and learn to be patient and wait for results.

5′ 4th activity: We listen to “I see something blue” by Super Simple Songs and sing along https://youtu.be/jYAWf8Y91hA?feature=shared

Song: I see something blue

5′ 5th activity: I name a colour and two pupils run to the supermarket to get a fruit of that colour.
