A lovely start for preschoolers and for young students who study English as a second language. Oliver Jeffers creates once again unique illustrations of an ‘unusual’ alphabet where C stands for cup, D for donkey and U for underground, he avoids the clichés of C for cats, D for dogs and U for umbrellas.
We liked the colours, the funny illustrations, the fact that every page is dedicated to one letter and the accompanying picture as well as the simplified version of the highly praised Once Upon an Alphabet which is addressed to older students. Our only objection is to a confusion of upper and lower case letters in the same word e.g ICEBerg which an observing learner easily spots. Otherwise,it is recommended as long as you have another classic Alphabet at home.
